Manufacturing Process
- API 5L: The mandatory global standard for oil and gas transmission pipelines.
- PSL2: A high-standard quality grade; the mandated specification for mainline and subsea pipelines.
- LSAW: Formed via steel plate bending and double-sided (internal and external) submerged arc welding; features a single longitudinal weld seam; the primary pipe type for large-diameter, high-pressure pipelines.
- Positioning: A primary pressure-bearing steel pipe meeting the highest safety standards for long-distance oil and gas transmission mainlines; classified as a Grade I pressure-bearing component for pressure piping systems.
Forming Processes (Two Mainstream Routes: UOE and JCOE)
- UOE Process: U-pressing → O-closing → mechanical cold expanding. Features high circularity tolerance, suitable for mass production of standard pipe sizes (508–1220 mm OD)
- JCOE Process: Progressive segmented bending forming with lower equipment investment. Applicable for thick-wall pipes, non-standard diameters and small-batch orders (OD: 406–1422 mm, max wall thickness up to 70 mm)

- Outer Diameter Range: NPS 16"–NPS 84" (406 mm–2134 mm); the optimal pipe type for large-diameter, high-pressure pipelines.
- Wall Thickness: Standard SCH 20/SCH 40/SCH 80; increased wall thickness available upon request.
- Fixed Lengths: 6 m, 12 m, 18 m; custom cutting to project-specific lengths is also available.
- Pipe End Types: Beveled End (BE) for field welding, Plain End (PE) for flange connection. Plastic pipe caps are equipped to prevent collision damage and foreign matter intrusion.

- Bare pipes are only applied for short on-site process piping. External anti-corrosion coating is essential for long-distance transmission pipelines. Internal drag-reducing epoxy coating is optional for crude oil delivery to reduce transportation energy consumption.

Compare with ERW pipe: Capable of large diameter & heavy wall production with higher pressure resistance and superior weld integrity, applicable for high-pressure trunk transmission pipelines

Compare with SSAW spiral pipe: Single straight weld leads to uniform stress distribution, higher dimensional accuracy and stricter NDT acceptance criteria. SSAW pipes are mostly used for low-pressure municipal pipelines while PSL2 grade is rarely approved for trunk pipeline projects.
