PRODUCT
Tianjin Brisk Steel focus on produce and supply hollow section and steel pipe
Standard & Product Definition
All our hollow sections are strictly manufactured according to AS/NZS 1163, the official Australian & New Zealand standard for cold-formed structural steel hollow sections.
Product Range:
- SHS – Square Hollow Section
- RHS – Rectangular Hollow Section
- CHS – Circular Hollow Section
Grade explanation for clients:
- C450: High strength grade for general structural usage
- C450L0: Most popular project grade, with 0℃ Charpy impact toughness, mandatory for outdoor, seismic, high wind-load Australian projects
Mechanical Properties
|
Property |
C450 / C450L0 Standard Value |
|---|---|
|
Yield Strength (fy) |
≥ 450 MPa |
|
Tensile Strength (fu) |
≥ 500 MPa |
|
Elongation |
10%–14% (depends on wall thickness ratio) |

Higher yield strength than standard C350, lighter structure weight, less steel consumption, lower project cost for long-span and heavy-load buildings.
Chemical Composition & Weldability
focus on welding performance because most hollow sections need on-site cutting, welding and assembly.
- Max Carbon Equivalent (CEV) ≤ 0.43: Low carbon & controlled alloy content ensures excellent weldability with all common welding methods (arc welding).
- Important tip for clients: C450 strength is formed by cold forming work-hardening. The welding heat-affected zone (HAZ) will have slight strength reduction, which is normal and fully compliant with AS 4100 structural design code.
Size Range & Tolerance
Client can provide size availability, tolerance accuracy and custom length to fit project drawings.
- SHS/RHS Size: 20×20mm ~ 1000×1200mm
- Wall Thickness: 1.6mm ~ 60mm
- Standard Length: 5.8m / 6m / 9m / 12m
- Custom Service: Cut-to-length, hole punching, end trimming available
- Tolerance: Strictly follow AS/NZS 1163 dimensional tolerance, no deformation, perfect for on-site assembly
Surface Finishes (Environment & Application Match)
Clients choose surface treatment according to local weather, usage environment and budget.
- - Black Mill Finish: Standard export finish, cost-effective, suitable for further painting/galvanizing
- - Hot-dip Galvanized: Australia standard anti-corrosion finish, for outdoor, coastal, high humidity projects
- - Anti-rust Oil: Basic protection for dry environment transportation

Application Scenarios (Help Clients Confirm Suitability)
We match products to clients' projects directly:
- Building structure: Factory columns, roof trusses, high-rise building frames
- Infrastructure: Pedestrian bridges, guardrails, large advertising frames, port supports
- Mechanical & industrial: Trailer chassis, agricultural machinery, heavy equipment brackets
- Logistics: Heavy-duty warehouse storage racks
- Best advantage: Perfect for Australia high wind speed & seismic zone projects due to high strength and stable toughness.
Standard Matching & Equivalent Grade
Many clients compare with their local standards:
- Equivalent to EU: EN 10219 S460MH / S460NH
- C450 vs C350: C350 for light-duty projects;C450 for heavy-load, long-span, high-standard Australian projects
FAQ
Q: Does C450 steel need pre-heating before welding?
A:For normal wall thickness below 12mm, pre-heating is not required. For thick sections over 12mm, low-level pre-heating is recommended to avoid welding cracks.
Q: Do you provide third-party inspection for C450 steel?
A: Yes. We support SGS, BV, TUV and any customer-appointed third-party inspection before shipment.
Q: Why is C450 more popular for Australian industrial buildings?
A: Australia has high wind load and strict structural codes. C450 provides higher strength-to-weight ratio, reducing total steel tonnage, saving freight and overall project cost while meeting AU structural safety requirements.
Q: What is the difference between C350 and C450 hollow section?
A: C450 has 100MPa higher yield strength than C350. C350 is for light structure, fencing, and general construction. C450 is for high wind, seismic, long-span, heavy-load Australian commercial & industrial structures, allowing lighter steel weight and smaller section size.
